Key Support Vendors for Solopreneurs
Here are vendors you’ll want to consider for your business of one:
๐ฐ Accounting โ Stop doing your own books in Quickbooks or an Excel spreadsheet. Lots of options here. Many CPAs are now catering to your specific industry.
๐ฆ Banking โ I’m not afraid of regional bank runs. Determine your risk appetite. Local and startup-focused banks (e.g., Brex, Mercury, Novo) are options for solopreneurs.
๐ Finance โ Fractional CFOs aren’t cheap ($300-$500 per hour), but worth it for a few modeling sessions if you find yourself plateauing around $50K MRR.
โ๏ธ Legal** โ Your mileage may vary, but I’ve found some great attorneys on UpCounsel. This goes beyond simple entity formation. Sidebar, companies like Haloo (https://www.haloo.co) can save you thousands on initial trademark research if that matters for your business.
๐งพ Tax โ This is another area where I don’t think it makes sense to go alone. Your taxes may not be complicated with a business of one, but you’ll likely miss optimization strategies on your own.
You can do all of this for $200-$500 per month (including amortized annual services like tax prep).
Work them into your budget.
