Guess Who’s Back
December 6th, 2009 | by LaSean Smith
Yes, I’m blogging again. Why? A few reasons. First, I have a number of conversations with people throughout the day that aren’t really personal. They tend to revolve around industry landscapes, trends and the future. While these conversations aren’t likely to resonate with a large audience there are times when I have multiple threads taking place around the same topic. Twitter isn’t enough. I can be short and rather terse, but even I can’t always get the point across in 140 characters. Secondly, there is a lot of personal noise on my Twitter page and Facebook stream. An even smaller group cares about that stuff. A bit more separation between that sort of rambling and professional conversations isn’t a bad thing. Finally, I’m interested in interacting with people I don’t know. This blog will be another place to help facilitate that. Agree with me. Violently disagree with me. Doesn’t matter. Just form well thought out responses and challenge the crazy talk. I’m down with that.
The ultimate goal is get each of us to think. From there we can form our own opinions that helps make positive impact.
So what’s fair game on this URL? Pretty much anything. That’s why there is a ‘Random’ category. However, I will focus on the follow areas:
- Connected Experiences – Devices talk to the cloud and add new context to our personal data networks. What technology trends are pushing this forward? Where’s the business opportunity?
- Infographics & Visualization – Visual communication is one of our most powerful tools. Who’s pushing the envelope? What are the technologies and techniques that make this real?
- Marketing (Digitally) – Who is leading the way? More broadly, how is technology affecting marketing as a discipline?
- Media & Entertainment – Consumers, big media, content startups, software companies all want in. Where’s the value? Who gets the check?
- Software Economics – How do companies and individuals make money building software? Who has it right? Wrong?
And that’s it. Expect 4-5 posts per month. And what’s your call to action? Add my feed to your favorite RSS reader. Right now. You can always delete it later. The switching costs are zero.
